The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:
Apple Cider Vinegar (or ACV as I will refer to it) is a must have for all dog owners. It has fantastic health properties for them inside and out. ACV can help control pests, improve health and help to ensure general well-being in your dog.
Apple cider vinegar is a product filled with minerals and essential vitamins, including magnesium, potassium and iron. The best apple cider vinegar is that which is fermented and unfiltered because it has “the mother” (a stringy substance) which contains the most enzymes and minerals.
To help prevent skin rashes and irritations or just to add a beautiful luster to your dog’s coat, add no more than one teaspoon full to your dog’s dinner 3 to 4 times a week. Adding to food can also help arthritic dogs and dogs who are prone to hot spots.
To aide digestion, add one teaspoon to your dog’s water bowl every day.
ACV is a great natural flea repellent and mixed half ACV and half water in a spray bottle can be used as a flea spray on your dog’s coat. This mixture is also said to be aide healing and reduce inflammation when sprayed on sore skin or hot spots.
Another fantastic use I have found for ACV is to stop all those unwanted mosquitoes and midges coming into your house. Half fill an empty jar with undiluted ACV, add 2 tablespoons of water and one drop of washing up liquid. Leave somewhere outside near the house, but out of the reach of your animals. Mosquitoes are drawn to the smell of the undiluted ACV. You will be surprised how many mosquitoes are in it after a few days; I did this last week and couldn’t believe how many were in the jar at the end of one week.
There are many helpful websites that tell of the benefits of ACV, if you have any doubt about giving it to your dog, talk to your vet first to ensure that it is right for you.
