Daily Doggie Tip #65

Female dogs that haven’t been spayed are at risk of a potentially life threatening condition called pyometra. A pyometra can be open or closed. A closed pyometra is where the womb fills with pus and it cannot escape, creating a life threatening condition very quickly. An open pyometra is where the pus drains, and creates a discharge. It too is an emergency.

I have attached 2 links that detail all signs and symptoms. Please note that this condition is a medical emergency and can only be cured by surgery. Even then not all dogs will pull through.
